Cellulite Treatment

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

Women experience the liberation by wearing small skirts. But in many women, cellulite can play a spoilsport. Although there are creams and surgical methods that guarantee to eliminate those irritating lines, there is no certain method of eliminating them completely.

What is cellulite?

Cellulites are fat tissues containing bands of connective tissues. These tissues are present in specific areas of the body: the thighs, abdominal area and buttocks in women. Men have cellulites in the neck and the abdomen. Usually they are whiter or various degrees lighter than their skin colors.

If the circulation is proper, your skin’s folds are smooth. However with fluids in the layers, the accumulated fats, and chemical toxins are not eliminated and are caught within the skin, the tissues harden and thicken, thus causing bumpy lines in the skin. Although everybody has the same smooth layers of cellulite, the resulting appearance is decided by genetics, the person’s lifestyle and weight, all of which are main factors causing the cellulite

There are various kinds of cellulites. One is found in the muscles of active women like dancers and runners. The hard or solid cellulites are difficult to eliminate, since they are fixed directly to the muscles. But soft cellulites are highly visible and can give a sagging look to the body. But though they are present in bigger muscle areas, they can be easily removed.

Unfortunately, cellulite problems commonly plague women. The problem can begin at an early age of 14 years and the affected areas can become bigger as they age. Women taking birth control pills and new mothers are also highly susceptible. Injured persons are also likely to develop cellulites.

Treatment methods

Cellulite creams sold in the market have been found to be effective in averting the occurrence of cellulites but they cannot destroy the tissues completely. These creams contain alpha-hydroxyl acids don’t actually get rid of cellulites but instead increase the elasticity of the skin, thus making the cellulites less evident.

Exercise and diet is still the best method of combating cellulite. People must find time to relax and visit spas for body pampering. Exercise is specifically effective as circulation can actually minimize the appearance of the cellulites.

Eat detoxifying diet. It should consist of lot of fruits and vegetables. Whole grain foods are also highly advised. Limit or eliminate coffee and soft drinks. Some aver that spicy foods are also responsible for many instances of cellulites but this claim is yet to be proved. Avoid cigarette smoking and drinking alcohol, since they cause the production of toxins in the body.

Though a low-fat diet is not mandatory, some experts advise limiting the consumption of fatty foods, since they are difficult to digest and eliminate. Moreover, fats also increase the size of the cellulite cells.

Water therapy is also beneficial in making cellulites less evident, since it removes toxins and fats from the body. It also helps in proper digestion and blood circulation.
